What a wonderful afternoon surprise for my 22 children that day when Santa's REAL elf walked in with friends to spoil them! They were tickled to have the visit from him and the paper elf hats. They were then promptly overwhelmed by the water bottles, lunch bags AND wrapped presents from Santa's REAL workshop. How did Santa know?!

These kiddos took their presents home with beaming smiles on their adorable faces and eagerly shared their stories with their parents/caregivers in their various languages. So many returned the next day with little food items (most are free lunch students so this was a challenge for them, I am sure) in their new lunch bags and shared with the class what fun they had with their toys. It was a heart-warming time shared by all and I cannot properly express my gratitude on behalf of some terrific Kindergarten tots.

You really, truly did a mitzvah for my students and for that I am eternally grateful!

Thank you so much for coming to visit my students on Monday. The kids were so excited to see the Elves and are still talking about it. One parent told me that her son had slept with the Toy Story figures since he got them. Another parent told me that her child won't drink water but with his own water bottle, he is dringing water all day long. At conferences yesterday, all of the parents were asking quetions because their child had come home that day and was talking about an elf coming and bringing them gifts and the parents weren't sure what they were talking about. The students ask everyday when they are coming back to visit. I tell them that they are busy helping Santa get ready for Christmas. You guys really made their day and they all loved their gifts and were very appreciative of them as well the parents. This is truly what Christmas is all about and I can't think you enough for coming and helping to brighten their day during these difficult times.

We loved the surprise from the Elf!!! The words, “Thank You”, are not enough to express my appreciation for your time, generosity and kind-heartedness. Your thoughtfulness touched the lives of 28 children at Walt Whitman Elementary! Whether you were a person who donated money, sponsored the event, wrapped the gifts or volunteered, you helped to create a memory that will last a lifetime. The special events in life are the ones we remember. You helped to create a feeling of caring and concern. You made the children feel special! This is a feeling that will last forever and perpetuate itself in ways we can never imagine or predict. As a teacher in an ever-changing world, I feel supported by your generosity and to that, I say, THANK YOU!

As a homeless monitor, I have been blessed with the opportunity to educate and reach out to school districts and assist in their efforts to identify homeless students. Far too often districts report no homeless students enrolled in their schools. Understanding the criteria that qualifies as homeless is critical to successful identification. No district is exempt from homelessness. It has touched the lives of all economic situations, not just those in situational poverty.

The best things I have every received from OKE were the smiles from Josh and Menachem when I walked in the door. Before I even get the chance to say HELLO!, they call out "Oh look! It's TROUBLE!" I love shopping there. It feels like family whenever I walk in. :)

The best gift I received from OKE was the cases and cases of Pirates of the Caribbean books. Not only were the kids totally excited to walk into class and see them on their desks, but they continued to talk about how great they were long after they received them. That is not an easy thing for 4th graders to appreciate. A book that doesnt light up or plug in....lol They loved them, and I had a great thrill watching them spending hours perusing and reading them.
