Shopping Policies

Please read and understand these policies prior to scheduling your first visit.

  • Only teachers, staff and administrators included on the Operation: Kid Equip Approved Educator List will be allowed to visit the Teachers’ Annex to receive free school and classroom supplies.
  • Approved educators are permitted to shop once per month.
  • Appointments to visit the Teachers’ Annex can only be scheduled online.  When you go to the scheduling site, you will be able to create an account.  When making your first appointment, please be sure to click Complete Enrollment or click on the enrollment tab on the scheduling screen. Only those teachers listed on the roster provided by the school will have their accounts and/or appointments approved.
  • Please make sure you enter your correct e-mail address. Operation: Kid Equip volunteers are not responsible to verify the accuracy of any contact information you type and submit.
  • When you schedule your appointment online, you will receive a ‘Appointment notification’ e-mail.  This shows that you have successfully requested an appointment.  If you appointment is approved, you will receive an ‘Appointment confirmation’ e-mail.  Please do not visit the Teachers’ Annex until you receive the e-mail with ‘Appointment confirmation’ in the subject line.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail regarding your appointment, please check your spam/bulk folder. If it is not there, then please log into the appointment system using your username and password to check on the status of your appointment.
  • Due to space limitations, only a certain number of teachers will be scheduled for each day. Please wait to receive an e-mail confirmation of your appointment before you visit the Teachers’ Annex!
  • All appointment scheduling, re-scheduling and cancellations are performed online by the teacher. Operation: Kid Equip volunteers will not confirm, edit, schedule, change or cancel appointments via e-mail, telephone or voicemail. All of your appointments must be managed by you through the online appointment system.
  • Volunteers and staff are scheduled according to the confirmed teacher appointments for each day, so please make every effort to keep your scheduled appointment.
  • If you are not able to make your appointment, you may reschedule your appointment as many times as necessary. However, you must cancel at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time in order to reschedule another time. If you do not show up for your scheduled time, or do not cancel 24 hours prior to your shopping time, you will lose shopping privileges for three months. Remember, all changes and cancellations must be initiated by you through the online appointment system. Telephone calls, voicemails and e-mails will not be accepted.
  • Hours of Operation: The Operation: Kid Equip Teachers’ Annex is open for teacher visits Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00-2:00 p.m. The Teachers’ Annex will be closed on holidays.
  • When you arrive at the Teachers’ Annex, you will be required to check-in and provide a form of photo ID, such as a school ID badge or driver’s license.
  • All items in the Teachers’ Annex are provided free of charge.  Some teacher free stores across the nation are charging an annual fee to help cover the costs of rent, utilities and program operations. At the Teachers’ Annex you will only be asked for a suggested $10 voluntary donation at the end of your shopping trip.
  • Due to space limitations, please do not bring a shopping companion or children to the store.  No large bags, purses or backpacks can be carried around while shopping.
  • Please bring bags or boxes to pack your items.  Teachers will be responsible for loading their own vehicle.  Operation: Kid Equip staff and volunteers are not permitted to carry and/or load vehicles.
  • Teachers receive an allotment of points each month to use towards items in the Teachers’ Annex. Some items may be limited in quantity to ensure that merchandise is fairly distributed to all schools and their students. Teachers are required to observe the limits on products that are marked as having maximum quantities allowed. There are no rainchecks or special orders available.
  • Teachers are allowed 60 minutes to complete shopping. Your 60 minutes begins at your scheduled time, so please arrive on time.  Your shopping time starts when you are scheduled, not when you arrive. If your weekday appointment is at 5:30, or your Saturday appointment at 1PM, please bear in mind that the doors will close at 6:00PM during the week, and at 1:30PM on Saturday.
  • Teachers/approved representatives may only shop for one classroom per visit. You will not be allowed to shop for other teachers during your visit.
  • Supplies distributed from the Operation: Kid Equip Teachers’ Annex are for student and classroom use only. All items provided to teachers must be used in their classrooms, for the benefit of their own students.
  • Operation: Kid Equip automatically notifies your school principal about all the details your visit.  All items received from the Teachers’ Annex are listed out.
  • Please do not bring food or drink into the Teachers’ Annex. Donated supplies can be damaged by spills!
  • To help keep our shelves filled, you are required to have your students complete the thank you “homework assignment.” Donors especially love the drawings and messages they receive from the children.
  • All items received at the Teachers’ Annex become the property of the school or students. Teachers may not keep products for personal use outside of the school.
  • By accepting tangible goods from Operation: Kid Equip, you agree to use the merchandise received for the benefit of the Designated Donation Recipient listed and  in accordance with Internal Revenue Code Section 170(e)(3), which states that the merchandise must be used for the care of the ill, needy or minors and cannot be bartered, traded or sold.
