Eligibility to Participate

Schools, nonprofits and enrichment programs that qualify to participate in the Operation: Kid Equip program are required to meet the following criterion:

Schools

A public school located within the counties of Macomb, Oakland and parts of Wayne having 70% or more students enrolled in the Federal free and reduced meal program are eligible. With limited exception, Operation: Kid Equip may invite other schools to participate.  Eligible schools will be invited to participate as product availability increases.

Data and statistics are taken from a variety of sources deemed to be reliable, including, but not limited to, the State of Michigan Department of Education, the local intermediate school district, the local school district and/or the school building.

Nonprofit/Educational Enrichment Programs

Nonprofit programs with an explicit mission to serve low-income students may be eligible. Programs will be considered by the Operation: Kid Equip staff and Advisory Board on a case-by-case basis and may include tutoring programs, after school enrichment programs, summer school enrichment programs, or government/county programs. One program manager, case manager, tutor or teacher from these programs would be eligible to visit.
