Hey Michigan! We Want Your Heroic Kids
Help us identify heroic kids in our backyard!
Operation: Kid Equip is collaborating with Kids Are Heroes, an internationally-recognized organization, to feature our Michigan kids who embody a sense of caring, action and community responsibility.
Kids Are Heroes is an organization that empowers children to give to others. They do this by showcasing special children from all around the world who are doing amazing things. Parents and teachers bring their children to their web site and read the stories of heroism together. Then the adults watch as their kids become inspired to action.
Kids Are Heroes doesn’t tell kids what project they must do. It is much better to find the child’s passion and then support it so that the chances of them following through are much greater. Kids Are Heroes also paints all the child heroes with the same brush, no matter how little or great the accomplishment.
Kids Are Heroes features kids under the age of 18 who have decided on their own that for whatever reason they want to help someone, and then went out and completed a task. It’s not about the fanfare. None of the kids on the Kids Are Heroes site are interested in that. It’s more about raising awareness for the cause and inspiring other kids to join in.
So why is it important that your child is involved in giving? Besides making the world a better place, we have seen firsthand how this activity can be beneficial to your child. Leadership skills are fostered and self confidence is boosted significantly. This is definitely a win-win situation for everyone.
The organization was started by a nine-year-old girl named MaryMargaret who asked her daddy to build her a web site because she wanted to help animals. “Why not help people, too?” her dad asked, and Kids Are Heroes was born. Currently we feature over 100 heroes all over the US and Canada. We feature small groups and schools as well.
